Google Chrome Has Pushed An Emergency Update To Fix Numerous Security Vulnerabilities - TechieEngineer.com

As per a warning from CERT.in on December 14, it alerted Google Chrome users about five security vulnerabilities that attackers in the world might have already been exploiting.

Recently, Google rolled out the latest update for its Chrome browser which fixes numerous vulnerabilities with the google chrome browser that is used by about 2.6 billion users across the world. This update resulted as an emergency fix after a zero-day vulnerability was discovered that attackers are already exploiting.

The latest updated Google Chrome version 96.0.4664.110, fixes five vulnerabilities, including four high-rated ones and a fifth crucial vulnerability. Among these four high-rated vulnerabilities, there is one that lets attackers target Google Chrome’s JavaScript engine and execute code on a target computer.

What the company said on this:

The company said, “Google is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2021-4102 exists in the wild,”. It further mentioned that “the Stable channel has been updated to 96.0.4664.110 for Windows, Mac, and Linux which will roll out over the coming days/weeks.” and “extended stable channel has also been updated to 96.0.4664.110 for Windows and Mac which will roll out over the coming days/weeks.”

The fixed five vulnerabilities include CVE-2021-4099, CVE-2021-4100, CVE-2021-4101, and CVE-2021-4102. Currently, there is nothing much information on the technical aspects of the five vulnerabilities, but Google Chrome will make public updates after the new chrome latest version that fixes everything and the update has already been installed by all the google chrome users.

Why should you update to the latest Google Chrome 96.0.4664.110 immediately?

CERT (The government’s Computer Emergency Response Team) recently issued a warning asking all the Google Chrome users to update to the latest version as soon as possible to avoid any attacks and security issues.

CERT.in published a report on December 14, the organization cites that “multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.”

The report claims that “The vulnerability (CVE-2021-4102) is being actively exploited in the world,”

How you can update your Google Chrome latest version:

In order to update your Google Chrome browser, you can simply click on the three-dot menu on the top right corner of the google chrome browser and click on Help/ About Google Chrome. If the update is available in your region, it will show up there and you should be able to install the google chrome latest version.
